Hymn for the Forsaken

I absolutely LOVED the narration of “Hymn for the Forsaken” and thoroughly enjoyed the story and how everything played out!

This one is definitely a slow burn, and I was a little surprised that the magical elements didn’t even come into play until about halfway through the book. I had anticipated magic being a much more prominent part of the story, so I found myself waiting for that element to really take off.

But can we talk about Ina?! I absolutely ADORED her as our FMC! Her decisions felt authentic and understandable, and I could genuinely put myself in her shoes. Such a refreshing change from the countless times I’ve wanted to scream “WTF ARE YOU DOING?!” at female characters in books. 😂

Ann Marie Gideon’s narration was easily one of the highlights of my experience. Her performance was captivating and added so much to the atmosphere of the story. I loved listening to her bring Ina’s journey to life, and she made the slower pacing much more enjoyable.

Ultimately, I really wanted this book to CONSUME me. I wanted to be completely lost in its world, but it never quite pulled me all the way in. Still, I thoroughly enjoyed the journey, appreciated the way everything came together, and would absolutely recommend it to readers who love a character-driven slow burn!
