If “Planet Terror” and “Pumpkinhead” had a chaotic, gore-filled baby… this would be it. 🎃

“Smashed Pumpkins” was absolutely ridiculous—in the BEST way. Campy as all get out, but with just enough substance beneath the surface to keep it from being pure fluff. You’ve got college kids trying to figure themselves out, a brewing romance, a jerk farmer chasing success, a loyal best friend, a caring mom, shady fertilizer distributors, and yes… even a social media influencer thrown into the mix.

The story centers on Shaun and Val, and I loved both their mutual longing and their total bad-assery. Cole is there too… but he felt more like an afterthought for me.

I originally read this novella and gave it 4 stars, but after revisiting it on audio, I’m officially bumping it up to 5! Tiffany Vanlandingham’s narration was PHENOMENAL! She brought so much personality, energy, and fun to an already outrageous story. Her performance perfectly captured the campy chaos, making the whole experience even more entertaining. This is one of those rare occasions where the audiobook genuinely elevated my enjoyment of the story!

This was my first book from Montgomery, and it definitely won’t be my last. Between this story and her Instagram presence, I already know she’s exactly my kind of zany. And now I know I’ll be keeping an ear out for more from Tiffany Vanlandingham, too!
