Frosting & Fairies
Sugar Shack Mysteries | Book 7

⭐️⭐️⭐️✨
It had been a hot minute since I last visited Winterspell and I’m not gonna lie… I spent the first little bit trying to reconnect all the dots again. The characters, the town dynamics, the romance, the magical chaos. You know the drill. It definitely reminded me that I really need to start waiting until cozy mystery series are fully released so I can binge them straight through like a Netflix show. 😂 Once I settled back in though, Frosting & Fairies ended up being a really fun return to Sugar Shack and the world of Winterspell.
The Summer Lovin’ Book Festival was such a hilarious setup. Shirtless pirate-cover models competing to become the next Captain Riker Bones? Absolutely ridiculous in the best way possible. I do wish Orion had somehow gave in to Grandma Rose and wound up on stage. I do wish we’d gotten more time soaking in the festival antics before the murder kicked off because I feel like I missed out on what could have been some fun scenes. But this series never wastes time, and before long, we’re dealing with a dead pirate model, poisoned cupcakes from Sugar Shack, and another investigation that will help determine the future for Ella and Orion.
Overall, this was a solid, entertaining cozy mystery with humor, small-town charm, and enough cupcake-fueled drama to keep me hooked. Grandma Rose continues to steal scenes every chance she gets, and even though I needed a second to get my bearings again in Winterspell, I had a good time being back there.
