Grimoires Gone Wild
By Cleo Frost
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️💫 (4.5 Stars)
I was honestly surprised by how much I enjoyed this one. It’s rare in the cozies I’ve read lately to not have an off-page murder, and this book felt much more wholesome while still delivering plenty of mystery and magical chaos.
Mari returns to her hometown with her life falling apart and her magic more unpredictable than ever. Soon, grimoires around town start disappearing, including her family’s. To make matters worse, her grade-school rival Tiffany immediately points fingers at Mari. Alongside friends Pru, Hannah, Annabel, and Gabe, she sets out to uncover the truth and contain the magical mess spreading through town.
The magical chaos in this book was SO fun to picture: pixies, raccoons, woodland creatures, plastic flamingos, stone lions, garden gnomes… the town was basically under magical attack in the funniest ways possible.
I did want a little more closure regarding Rupert’s research and Bert with his sick wife. I’m hoping future books revisit these storylines/characters because it definitely left me curious.
Also, I absolutely adore the Engelbert and Maude cat dynamic and can’t wait to see how it develops throughout the Wardwell Witch Mystery series.
This was such a light, cozy, fast read and exactly what I needed. Easily a one- or two-day binge read.
If you’re looking for a fun paranormal cozy mystery series to start, I’d definitely recommend checking out Cleo Frost and Grimoires Gone Wild.
