This is a slow-burn in every sense of the word… both the mystery and the romance. But honestly, it worked. The pacing gave the characters room to grow, and by the end I was completely invested in both Holly and Callum, as well as the mystery surrounding East Mill House.

I also loved the addition of Jason, Callum’s best friend, who helped her see him from a different perspective and better understand him. And Callum’s honesty and transparency throughout the story? Huge points for that. As far as fictional couples go, I think these two are going to make it. ❤️

Sarah Fitzgerald did a great job with the narration overall. I listened at 1.5x speed, which is much faster than my usual pace, and it still felt very natural. My only small critique is that I would have loved a little more intensity during the final confrontation. The writing absolutely conveyed the danger, but I wanted the narration to match that same level of urgency.

Overall, this was a charming paranormal romance with heart, mystery, and some genuinely lovable characters. I’ll definitely be adding more of Amy Hutton’s books to my TBR!
