“Sin Bin With The Scrooge” brings together two longtime family friends who have clearly had feelings for each other for a while. Tessa is a college student, while Clay is a former NHL player considering a coaching position at her college. There’s one fairly significant complication: Tessa previously dated Clay’s younger brother, and their families seem to think that’s the brother she’s supposed to end up with.

A lot of the story revolves around Clay’s baggage from his NHL career and the public’s perception of him potentially stepping into a coaching role. He’s worried about dragging Tessa into all of that, while they’re both also trying to avoid the inevitable family drama that would come with everyone finding out they’re together.

Of course, keeping their distance doesn’t exactly work, and the two eventually have to decide whether what they have is worth dealing with everything that comes along with it.

Overall, I’d categorize this much more as a sports romance with some holiday elements than a true holiday romance. I liked Clay and Tessa together, and the narration itself was strong, but I went in hoping for considerably more Christmas with my hockey.

Thank you to The Author Agency and Brooke O’Brien for the gifted ALC.
