Some books get ALL the hype and leave me wondering if I read the same book as everyone else. “Mad Mabel”? HOT DAMN. This one deserves every bit of love it’s getting.

This book was different from so much of what I read. Yes, there are mysteries to unravel, but more than anything, this is a book you feel. Through Mabel’s lived experience, we understand her, hurt for what she endured, celebrate what she overcame, and watch her continue to grow. I absolutely adored her.

And the characters! Persephone, Mabel’s aunts, Daphne, and pretty much everyone on Kenny Lane stole pieces of my heart. One of the hardest parts was watching Mabel struggle to recognize the people who had been rooting for her all along because her past had taught her to expect otherwise.

The narration was phenomenal. Jenny Seedsman simply WOWED me as Mabel, bringing so much personality, emotion, and life to her story. Hannah Fredericksen absolutely shined as well. Together, they made an already emotional story even more impactful.

And now I’m going to brag: I counted four major mysteries, and I correctly predicted THREE. 😂 The only one that got me was how Mabel’s neighbor died. Go me! Congratulations are welcomed in the comments. LOL.

My advice? Listen to this book. It’s SO GOOD.
