An intriguing, easy-to-follow thriller that kept me entertained, even if the ending left me frustrated and with more questions than answers.
“The Stillwater Girls” has been sitting on my TBR for what feels like FOREVER, and I finally pressed play!
There was so much I genuinely enjoyed about this story, and for a while, I thought I might have a 5-star read on my hands. Unfortunately, the ending didn’t quite stick the landing for me.
This is one of those thrillers where there’s a pretty clear divide between the good guys and the bad guys. Sure, a few characters might make you second-guess yourself, and there are some red herrings sprinkled throughout, but overall, the story is surprisingly straightforward. Not necessarily a bad thing, but I do love a thriller that keeps me questioning EVERYTHING.
My biggest issue was how everything came together in the end. Some of the revelations felt a little forced, and there were enough plot holes to leave me scratching my head. I finished with approximately a MILLION unanswered questions, and I really wanted a more satisfying resolution.
On the audiobook side, I thought the narration was really well done! I believe this was my first experience listening to both Lauren Ezzo and Melissa Moran, and I enjoyed their performances. Both brought the story to life and made it easy to stay engaged throughout.
Despite my frustrations with the ending, I’m glad I finally crossed this one off my TBR! There’s definitely enough here to make me want to explore more of Minka Kent’s books.
