Last Entry

A little spice, a whole lot of murder, and a haunted house? NOW we’re talking!

“Last Entry” was EXACTLY the kind of horror novella I needed in the week leading up to Halloween! I’d previously read Tamsin St. James in the anthology “Threads of Obsession,” and enjoyed her work, but this one seriously impressed me.

Don’t let the novella length fool you. This story PACKS A PUNCH. It’s atmospheric, deliciously murderous, and gives us one of my favorite kinds of stories: rooting for the bad guy because somehow everyone else is WORSE. And the haunted house setting? One of my absolute favorite places for things to go terribly, terribly wrong.

What really impressed me was how much St. James managed to squeeze into such a short story. We got the relationships, the backstory, and enough character development for me to fully embrace our leads. I was invested!

Now, I was warned there wouldn’t be a happily ever after, but… are we sure about that? Because I was pretty darn content with how everything played out. An HEA in my book! Maybe my standards are questionable, but that’s between me and my therapist.
