The Twelve Days of You

Some love stories win you over with grand gestures. This one won me over with characters who felt painfully real. And I I sort of loved this love story.

Blair won me over almost immediately. That feeling of never being enough, of being replaceable within your own family, and of not wanting to admit when you’ve messed up? PAINFULLY relatable. I understood her insecurities, her decisions, and why she struggled to let people see her at her lowest.

And West? Oh, my heart. His experience of never quite measuring up within his own family hit especially close to home. There’s something heartbreaking about watching someone give so much of themselves while feeling like they’ll never be the one who’s chosen.

Their slow-burn romance felt wonderfully natural, especially knowing West had been pining for Blair for YEARS. Of course he wasn’t going to make a move when everyone knew she was head over heels for his brother! But that didn’t stop him from showing up for her, even when doing so cost him more than she could possibly realize.

I also loved how everything played out in the end. Not everyone deserves forgiveness, and sometimes people are just shitty. I appreciated that the story didn’t shy away from that reality.

Kirsten Leigh and Lance Greenfield delivered wonderful narration that made these already relatable characters even easier to connect with. Their performances complemented the emotional vulnerability of Blair and West’s story, making the audiobook a genuinely enjoyable listen.

Ultimately, it wasn’t just the romance that won me over. It was the feeling of being seen through two characters who desperately wanted to be enough for the people they loved.
