Engaged to the Enemy

A mafia romance with dark rom-com energy, a delightfully chaotic FMC, and a love story that’s as ridiculous as it is entertaining!

What a fun read! Mafia romances aren’t usually my thing, but “Engaged to the Enemy” leaned heavily into the dark rom-com elements I absolutely love, and I was here for it!

Michelle was easily my favorite part of this story. I genuinely couldn’t tell whether she was intentionally trying to drive Dante crazy or if her outrageous behavior was simply who she was. India the dog, anyone?! Either way, I adored her chaos and the way Dante handled it.

And speaking of Dante, I loved his character arc! Watching these two go from reluctant partners to realizing they actually wanted each other was so entertaining. Of course, neither was particularly eager to admit their feelings or take that next step without their friends talking some sense into them. Sometimes you just need a little push!

There was a whole lot of sex, a little violence, and one absolutely ridiculous love story that somehow worked beautifully.

My only complaint was feeling like I was missing some backstory involving Daisy and the dead body. Although this isn’t listed as part of a series, I discovered Lucy Smoke also wrote “Married to the Mafia,” which tells Daisy’s story. You better believe I’ll be picking that one up!

Amelia Hugh and JD Tomlinson did a great job bringing this wild romance to life. The dual narration was a fun fit for the story’s mix of chaos, chemistry, and darker moments.
