A fake-dating romance that snuck up on me and had me laughing out loud more than once!
“Bluebird Day” took a little time to pull me in, but by the end, I was completely charmed by Jensen and David’s sweet, funny, and surprisingly natural romance.
Apparently, I’m on a fake-dating binge lately, and I’m not complaining! What I loved about these two was that even though their relationship started as pretend, it felt like something more almost immediately. Their connection was effortless, and it was easy to see why they fell for each other.
Jensen was definitely my favorite of the two. He felt more mature and grounded, while David had a little bit of that “pick-me” energy going on. But honestly? Maybe that was exactly what Jensen needed! Their personalities complemented each other in a way that just worked.
And the HUMOR! The way standing in lines was culturally significant, the hilarious truth bombs after the wedding, and THE BUFFET! I was cracking up because my stepdad is forever reminding me that bread is “filler food” and that I should head straight for the seafood and steak. I felt that scene in my soul!
Zachary Zaba narrates this audiobook, and his performance helped bring the characters and their playful dynamic to life. The comedic moments were especially fun in audio, making this an enjoyable listening experience. That said, I would have much preferred a Duet narration to help me discern between the characters.
A charming, feel-good romance with plenty of laughs, lovable characters, and a fake relationship that never stood a chance of staying fake!
