Sisters Before Misters
The Finch Sisters, Book 2
By Amelia Diane Coombs
Narrated by Soneela Nankani
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I’m struggling with this rating because I genuinely loved this book… but did I enjoy it more than the original? I honestly don’t know. The first book was absolute chaos in the best way possible. There were so many people with their hands in the cookie jar and secrets that by the end I could barely remember who actually did it. This one was definitely more straightforward, but it still kept the same humor, ridiculous situations, and Finch family nonsense that made me enjoy Book 1 so much.
In Sisters Before Misters, Remi has relocated and is now living in the same city as Eliana and Leo (and apparently LIVING with Leo 👀). Maeve arrives for a visit, reuniting the Finch sisters just in time for Halloween. Then the next morning, Chad (Eliana’s soon-to-be ex-husband) is suddenly maybe missing… maybe dead… maybe kidnapped… or maybe he just ran off.
We get more time with Eliana’s kids, Maeve’s assistant (Bess? Betts? Audiobook struggles), and brief appearances from the sisters’ wonderfully chaotic parents and aunt. Officer Trap also returns as a recurring character throughout the investigation.
One thing I really appreciated was Remi’s growth. She pushes through a lot of her anxiety to help her sisters and avoid Eliana going to prison over Chad. But honestly? The true MVP of this entire book is Maeve’s assistant. Without her, the Finch sisters would have been absolutely doomed. Like up sh*t creek without a paddle, doomed.
My biggest complaint comes during the final confrontation/reveal. I was disappointed Leo barely played a role. The sisters handled essentially all of the talking while Leo just… existed nearby. Considering Remi was actively in danger, I expected him to step in more or at least have a stronger presence during that scene.
Overall though, this was another really fun installment and Soneela Nankani continues to do a great job bringing the characters to life in audio format. I’m already looking forward to Book 3 when it releases this October on Audible.
