My first venture into mafia romance, and I found it to be a quick, engaging listen.

Bianca and Michael fell in love when they were young, but after years and what feels like lifetimes apart, they’re reunited out of obligation. Is the love still there? Hell yes!

The story is short, and I found myself wanting more. I wanted to learn more about Bianca and Michael, the inner workings of the mafia, and how Michael rose through the ranks. But at just over 200 pages, there simply wasn’t much room to dive deeper. Instead, this felt like the perfect one-day guilty pleasure read. An entertaining escape that doesn’t ask you to think too hard, and I appreciated that.

In the introduction, Kaya Sable references daytime soap operas, and I couldn’t help but think back to the early ’90s, watching Days of Our Lives during the era when Marlena was possessed, and Stefano DiMera was the ultimate supervillain. If you know, you know.

I’m definitely looking forward to Book 2, which shifts the focus to Bianca’s daughter and one of Michael’s men assigned to protect her. I’m hoping we’ll get even more action, more danger, and a chance to explore this world in greater depth.
