I have a feeling this is going to be a 5-star read for a lot of people.

I really enjoyed this one, especially the second half of the book when it finally felt like the mother was truly starting to piece everything together. That’s when I became completely invested.

The beginning had me a little worried. At times the story felt slow, and some of the internal thoughts became repetitive. But nearly every chapter added depth to the characters and the communities we experience throughout The Grapevine, making the emotional payoff well worth it.

And with a phenomenal narrator like Thérèse Plummer? I could probably listen to her read the phone book. She’s firmly in my top five narrators, and her performance elevated every scene.

The story is heartbreaking, suspenseful, and incredibly compelling. I wouldn’t classify it as a full-on thriller. To me, it reads more like a true crime-inspired mystery told through the eyes of a mother desperately searching for answers, and that perspective is what makes it so powerful.

Highly recommend if you enjoy emotional mysteries, missing persons cases, and stories that stay with you long after you’ve finished.
