Three chapters in, I thought this was going to be your typical rom-com. Instead, it surprised me in the best way and ended up being so much more fun than I expected.

Autumn Mercer perfectly captures Taylor’s cheerful, optimistic personality, while Brandon Francis brings Alex’s broody exterior and eventual lovesick-puppy energy to life. Their performances made it easy to root for both characters.

The story centers around a baking competition that is anything but fair. Between replacement pies, remote-operated ovens, and professionally trained chefs competing against home bakers, the competition is full of chaos. Yet somehow, amidst all the flour, frosting, and sabotage, Taylor and Alex still manage to find time to fall in love. The only question is whether life after the show will pull them together or prove to be a bridge too far.

One of my favorite things about this book was Taylor herself. She wasn’t looking for someone to complete her. She was chasing her own dreams, standing up for herself, and refusing to settle. In the end, she chose herself first.
