This was one of my most anticipated listens of the year, and I really enjoyed it. Just from the description, it sounded like it was going to be completely chaotic, and it absolutely delivered on that front.

Lucy dies, takes over the body of a doll, and eventually becomes something that looks like Sid from “Toy Story” got ahold of her… all while trying to bring her murderer to justice. 😂

Her one confidant, Nicola, has some very different ideas about what “justice” should look like, but Lucy is willing to go along for the ride. At least for a while.

One thing I didn’t completely understand was the focus on Lucy being a liar. It was brought up enough that I expected it to play a bigger role in the story, but I never really understood how it came into play. Maybe I missed something. 🤷‍♀️

For me, Lucy and Nicola’s relationship was the highlight of the book, and I actually wish we’d gotten more depth there. I loved that the LGBTQ+ representation was present as promised, but I would have liked that aspect of the story to have been more significant.

Tegan Bourke’s narration was lovely, but I especially enjoyed the voice she used for Lucy. It fit the character so well and added another layer to an already bizarre story.

Overall, this was weird, chaotic, dark, and definitely unlike anything else I’ve listened to recently. It’s one I’ll absolutely recommend to the right audience!
