I went into this book NOT expecting to love it as much as I did.
I actually won a physical copy months ago through a Goodreads giveaway and had been putting it off. Then the ALC became available on NetGalley, and I knew it was a sign! I dual read + listened, and Iโm so glad I did because the narration was phenomenal. Colin Donnell absolutely SHINED.
We have Detective Pole Licker and Officer Betty Crocker, nicknames earned through some very unfortunate events, forced to the town of Christmas to solve a murder and hopefully earn back some respect.
And Christmas is a CONUNDRUM. Youโll get a dirty look for saying a curse word, but the male dance club and sex toy shop are absolutely thriving. ๐
Ginger heads to Christmas looking for a husband… and turns up ๐.
Was it a scorned lover? An ex from her past? Or someone else entirely?
All three eligible bachelors in Christmas are suspects, but as Special Agents Holly Frost, aka Betty Crocker, and Mark Shepherd, aka Pole Licker, work through the clues, theyโre led down a million and one different paths.
And, most importantly, WILL THEY SAVE CHRISTMAS IN TIME FOR THE JINGLE BELL JUBILEE?!?!
But the mystery is only half the fun because we also get an enemies-to-lovers rom-com that had me smiling the entire time. I absolutely loved Holly and Markโs flirtatious, sarcastic, tear-each-other-down banter. Their chemistry was SO much fun.
I will say… pats self on back… I guessed whodunit the second they were introduced, and I NEVER WAVERED.
Was it super obvious? No.
Am I just that good? Obviously. ๐๐
This was funny, festive, murdery, romantic, and exactly the kind of chaotic holiday mystery I didnโt know I needed.
