We Live Here Now

๐Ÿ“– We Live Here Now
โœ๏ธ Sarah Pinborough
๐ŸŽ™๏ธ Helen Baxendale & Jamie Glover
Rating: โญ๏ธโญ๏ธโญ๏ธโญ๏ธโœจ

After reading “They Say a Girl Died Here” and absolutely LOVING it, I immediately went looking for more Sarah Pinborough books and came across “We Live Here Now.”

Pinborough is an absolute queen of slow-burn tension. From the very beginning, I had a million questions and came up with a million theories of my own, only to have them shift as more of the truth was revealed.

And the ravens! ๐Ÿฆโ€โฌ› I loved their presence throughout the book. Foreshadowing? Absolutely. Foreboding? That too. Every appearance added another little layer of unease.

I also found myself really appreciating Emily. I even managed to overlook her dalliance, despite that being something I normally HATE in a character, because I found what her husband was doing to be so much worse.

But THE HOUSE. ๐Ÿš๏ธ

Pinborough basically tells us early on what this house is capable of, but it’s so fantastical that you don’t recognize the truth staring you in the face until much later. I absolutely love a house that feels like a character of its own, and this one delivered.

This is definitely a slow-burn read, but that ending?

๐Ÿ‘ฉโ€๐Ÿณ๐Ÿ’‹ Chef’s kiss.

The tension, the reveals, the house, and those final moments made the wait completely worth it.

๐ŸŽง Narration Appreciation: Helen Baxendale and Jamie Glover were a great fit for the slow-building unease of this story. The narration helped maintain that creeping sense that something was very, very wrong, even when I couldn’t quite figure out what.
