I had a lot of fun with this one, and it felt VERY timely in a world filled with AI, deepfakes, and the increasingly terrifying question: Can we actually trust what we see anymore?

Brittany is accused of doing the unthinkable, and I spent a good portion of this book trying to decide whether we truly had an unreliable narrator on our hands or if someone was actually targeting her. And if someone WAS targeting her…why?

I really felt for Brittany. I cannot fathom being accused of harming my own child and then realizing that no one believes me. Not my husband. Not my sister. NO ONE. 😳 The isolation and desperation of her situation really got to me.

Thankfully, she does eventually find a few people willing to listen, including her lawyer and the tech expert she hires, and I loved watching the pieces slowly start coming together.

What worked especially well for me was that this didn’t turn into one of those thrillers that throws twist after twist at you just for shock value. The reveals felt plausible, the people responsible made sense, and nothing felt like it was pulled out of nowhere simply to manufacture a final “GOTCHA!”

🎧 NARRATION APPRECIATION: I don’t believe I’ve listened to Kymberley Cochrane before, but I really enjoyed her performance! She gave Brittany exactly the right balance of panic and poise depending on where we were in the story, which made the escalating situation feel even more believable.

A fun, fast psychological thriller with a VERY modern nightmare at its center. And maybe another reason to question absolutely everything you see online. 😂
