This was my first time reading Lauren North, and I was really impressed. It felt like a unique story, or maybe more accurately, a story we’ve heard before but with a fresh twist that made it feel completely different.

I’d definitely recommend “His New Girlfriend” to fans of Freida McFadden and Claire McGowan, aka the mes of the world. ๐Ÿ˜‚ It has that same addictive quality where you know something isn’t right, but figuring out exactly what is going on is half the fun.

Laura’s life is basically crumbling around her. Her boyfriend left her for her best friend, her daughter has a history of lying, her neighbor is missing, and her friend group has abandoned her. So when her daughter accuses her dad’s new girlfriend of something sinister, Laura has to decide who she believes, knowing there could be serious consequences either way.

I really enjoyed the uncertainty surrounding Laura’s daughter. When someone has lied before, how do you know when they’re finally telling the truth? And what happens when the accusation is too serious to simply dismiss? That dilemma kept me invested and questioning who I could trust.

Camilla Rockley’s narration worked really well for this story. She captured Laura’s mounting uncertainty and desperation without making the performance feel overdone, and I found her incredibly easy to listen to. The narration helped keep me immersed in the story and made this an especially fun audiobook experience.

Overall, “His New Girlfriend” was a fun, twisty listen that kept me coming back for more. Lauren North is officially on my radar, and I’ll absolutely be checking out more from her.
