Definitely not a top-tier McFadden read for me, but fun nonetheless.

Tegan is one of the strangest FMCs I’ve encountered in a while. She’s incredibly self-absorbed, makes some truly baffling decisions, and seems to have a completely warped perception of when she is actually in danger.

After remembering that she was the victim of sexual assault, Tegan refuses the hush money she’s offered but is still in limbo about what she wants to do next. Pregnant and overwhelmed, she decides to escape for a bit and head to her brother’s.

Then she gets caught in a blizzard, crashes her car, and THAT is when things really start to pick up.

Her rescuers become captors. The people she thinks she can trust aren’t necessarily who she thinks they are. And somehow, Tegan repeatedly manages to turn her back on the people who may actually be trying to protect her.

Basically, the entire book is one giant hot mess express. Every character. Every decision. Every twist. 🚂😂

Leslie Howard’s narration kept me engaged, especially once the story moved into full thriller mode. She handled Tegan’s increasingly chaotic situation well and helped keep the tension moving even when I was questioning nearly every decision being made.

Was the ending predictable? For me, yes. Did I still enjoy watching all the pieces fall into place? Also yes.

Not my favorite Freida McFadden, but even a middle-of-the-road McFadden thriller can still make for a pretty entertaining ride.
