I can honestly say I have NEVER read a book quite like this before. ๐Ÿ˜‚

The “Master” and “little psycho” dynamic somehow manages to be hilarious one minute and mildly terrifying the next. I knew there would be plenty of open-door spice going into this, but apparently I did NOT know exactly what I was signing up for. ๐Ÿ˜‚

For me, the highlight was the beginning because the humor absolutely got me. Zane hits Mason with his car, believes he’s killed him, and decides the logical solution is obviously to bring the body home and figure out how to cover everything up.

Except… Mason isn’t dead.

And Mason, who has read too many dark romance novels, becomes obsessed with the idea that he’s been kidnapped to become a $exual plaything.

Zane is basically like, “WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU?”

It was quite literally unhinged.

As the story progresses, the comedy gives way to a much darker, spicier relationship between these two, with Mason enthusiastically dragging Zane (his captor) into the kind of romance he’s been fantasizing about. I personally enjoyed the humor of the earlier chapters more than the heavier spice later on, but I have to give this book credit for being unlike anything else I’ve read.

Mac Rae and Zachary Zaba were a great pairing for these two VERY different personalities. Their performances helped sell both the absurd comedy and the darker moments, and the contrast between Mason and Zane came through especially well in audio.
