“Look What the Cat Dragged In” was weird, unexpected, and wonderfully unlike anything I thought I was getting into.
I honestly have no words because this book was SO different from what I expected. The first section leans heavily into mystery, slowly building questions and introducing a cast of quirky characters. Then, by Act 3, the horror starts creeping in and things get… strange. In the best way.
This is incredibly hard to review without spoilers because the direction the story ultimately takes is such a huge part of the experience. I definitely did not predict where we were headed! And that ending? Maybe it’s just me, but I can’t help wondering if there could be more to this story…
Stephanie Németh-Parker absolutely did this book justice. With so many quirky personalities, she had plenty to work with, and her performance really showcased her range. I’ve listened to her narration before, but this one gave her the opportunity to do something completely different.
I’d recommend this to readers who are open to something unusual and don’t mind a VERY slow burn. The pacing basically goes from zero… to thirty… to TWO HUNDRED. 😂
And finally, can we all just agree that cats are the best? 🐈⬛
