A wildly creative mix of thriller, romance, and bookish chaos that made for an incredibly fun listen.

“If Books Could Kill” was such a fun ride from start to finish. And this is Kate Eberle’s debut?! I’m seriously impressed. The premise felt fresh and creative, blending a little thriller, a little romance, and plenty of comedy into something that was just plain FUN.

Roxie makes a wish that goes a bit awry and somehow finds herself inside her favorite author’s next book. Unfortunately, it is definitely not the romance she was hoping to live out. From there, chaos ensues, things get increasingly complicated, and Roxie has to figure out exactly what kind of story she’s landed herself in. I loved the book-within-a-book concept, the humor, and the sweet romance woven through all the madness.

And Alex Finke! Someone recommended this book and I immediately added it to my TBR, but the second I saw who was narrating, I purchased it. After listening to her narrate “Play Nice,” she quickly became one of my favorite female narrators, and she absolutely shines here too.

Such a clever debut, and I’ll absolutely be watching for whatever Kate Eberle writes next!
