A little magic, a lot of matchmaking, and two characters I couldn’t help but root for made this such a sweet, feel-good romance!
I had absolutely no idea this was the third book in a series when I started listening, but honestly? It didn’t matter one bit! While the books are clearly connected, this worked beautifully on its own and actually made me want to go back and read the first two. I’m especially curious whether magic plays a bigger role in the earlier books!
I absolutely adored Cristina. She was mature, knew when to let herself fall in love, but also understood the importance of protecting her heart. And Rhett? Definitely a green flag, even if he frustrated me a little toward the end! I loved watching these two find their way to each other and, more importantly, help each other heal. Give me a well-earned HEA any day!
The magical matchmaking game was such a cute premise, and I especially enjoyed the early tournament competitions and the way magic nudged them toward love. My only real confusion or uninterest was Cristina’s Bitty Bot (sp?) business and all the “corns” (bunnycorns, piggycorns, etc.). That part never quite clicked for me.
Marjorie Lakewood and Alastair Haynesbridge made this an enjoyable audiobook experience. Her accent was a fun touch. The dual narration was a lovely fit for a romance centered on two characters learning to open their hearts again.
Overall, this was a charming, lighthearted romance with just enough magic, emotional healing, and swoony moments to leave me smiling. And now I have two more books to add to my TBR!
