Another enjoyable series by Nancy Warren! I’ve only finished book one, but I’ll definitely be adding the rest of the series to my TBR. Quinn Callahan relocates from Seattle to the small Irish village of Ballydehag after performing a little unauthorized magic on her ex-husband (don’t worry… it wasn’t anything evil!). Now, she is to run a bookshop previously owned by another witch who mysteriously left town with almost no notice. Naturally, almost as soon as Quinn arrives, she discovers a dead body.
As Quinn investigates, she uncovers the town’s many secrets, including the fact that her bookshop is home to a rather unusual Vampire Book Club.
The mystery revolves around several cheating spouses, and I have to admit I cringed a little at how Quinn essentially exposed everyone’s business in a very public way. I can’t imagine she’s going to have an easy time making friends after that!
One of my favorite parts was seeing familiar faces from Nancy Warren’s other books. Lochlan, Rafe, and Agnes making appearances was such a fun surprise and made the world feel even more connected.
Hollis McCarthy delivers an engaging narration, as usual, that captures the charm of Ballydehag, making this cozy paranormal mystery an easy and entertaining listen.
I’m looking forward to seeing where this series goes next.
