This was the first Freida McFadden book that didn’t quite work for me.

I think part of it came down to the narration. I had a difficult time connecting some of the voices to the characters, which made it harder to fully immerse myself in the story. Don’t get me wrong – I loved the voices of the narrators, but with so many characters of so many different ages, it was difficult.

The mystery itself kept me listening, but I found the major twists fairly easy to predict. There’s definitely something satisfying about figuring things out before the reveal, but in this case I was hoping to be a little more surprised.

Even though this wasn’t a favorite, I’ll absolutely continue picking up Freida McFadden’s books. This one just wasn’t the right fit for me, and that’s bound to happen when an author has such a large catalog.
