This was such a sweet, cozy read and exactly what I needed to break up the chaos in my head from all the psychological thrillers I’ve been binging.
Mika is an unlikely heroine who finds herself responsible for helping hold together a wonderfully unconventional family. As the story unfolds, we learn more about her lonely past and why she’s spent so much of her life believing she’s undeserving of love or a place to truly belong. It was heartbreaking at times, but also incredibly hopeful watching her slowly let people in.
The romance felt refreshingly genuine. Rather than trying to change one another, both characters learn to accept each other’s flaws and choose each other anyway. It was a quiet, mature love story that fit perfectly with the cozy atmosphere.
Samara MacLaren’s narration was warm and inviting, adding so much charm to the story. Her performance made it easy to sink into this magical world and feel completely immersed in Mika’s journey.
The way everything came together in the end was, quite literally, magic. It was heartwarming, satisfying, and left me with a huge smile on my face. If you’re looking for a cozy fantasy filled with found family, gentle romance, lovable characters, and just enough magic to make you believe in happily ever afters, this is one I’d definitely recommend.
