Letβs start by rating Owen, our MMC…
As a super sexy Irish man with a delectable accent: π₯΅π₯΅π₯΅π₯΅π₯΅
As a protector to the woman he loves: πͺπͺπͺπͺ (I mean… he didn’t intervene while she was married, but is also willing to k*ll for Emma)
As a writing buddy forcing you to hit your deadline: βοΈβοΈβοΈβοΈβοΈ (Although… do the punishments really fit the crime?)
As a man you can take home to Mom: π©π©π©π©π© (Ummm… questionable career choice, obsessive tendencies, and everyone basically views him as her brother.)
In “Snowbound,” Emma retreats to an isolated cabin in the snow to escape her cheating husband. Unfortunately, she neglected to read the fine print before heading into the wilderness and quickly discovered she hadn’t brought nearly enough necessities to survive. At this rate, she’s most likely going to die cold and alone.
Enter Owen, a man from her past who just happens to be secretly stocking her kitchen.
I just love it when the leads are absolutely obsessed with each other, and this book did not let me down. These two have history, chemistry, and enough questionable decision-making to keep things interesting. True love finds a way, apparently even when that way comes with a few red flags.
The one thing I wanted was more tension surrounding Owen’s job and how it could potentially impact Emma. I also would have loved to explore how their family dynamic changes now that everything is out in the open, especially since Owen still works with his dad. Although, it sounds like ol’ Pops should probably be more scared of Owen than the other way around. Sequel perhaps?
And Shiloh James… DAMN GIRL. I’m not in the narrator world, but somebody better be giving you serious props for that male Irish accent because THAT. WAS. NICE. π₯΅
Both narrators were phenomenal, and for once, the dual narration didn’t drive me bonkers like it often does. Shiloh James and John Hartley made this one incredibly easy to fly through.
